A handful of older models allow an on-board procedure with two working keys. Most vehicles from the last decade require diagnostic equipment connected to the OBD port.
Will you program a fob I bought on Amazon?
Usually yes. Send the part number first — some cheap clones cannot hold a code, and we would rather tell you before you pay for a trip.
How long does programming take?
It varies by vehicle. Some makes have a security wait timer built in that we cannot skip; we will warn you if yours is one.
Can you erase keys someone else still has?
Yes. Wiping the immobilizer and re-coding only your keys is the correct move after a theft, a breakup or a bad sale.
Do I need proof of ownership for programming?
Yes — photo ID and registration or title. Security programming is never done on an unverified vehicle.
